Hummingbird Hill is the name of my farm. I moved here in July of 2007 to get away from the burbs. Coming with me were my husband Kevin, one dog Spot, one cat Casper and three horses, Spunky, Whinnie and Wizard. We have since acquired three more dogs, Elvis, Graceland and Skippy, a Percheron named Buck, another cat, Colonel Parker and currently twenty three alpacas. Hummingbird Hill gets its name from the large population of Hummers that moves in each spring.
They look so funny without their hair. Kinda like cuddly aliens. Or something.
ReplyDeletestill cute , but you can sure see how long their necks are
ReplyDeleteNot much left to them after defleecing, is there?? I love the pic at the end, paca looks like someone took a scallop template to draw the white. How do you sort that??? Who do you sell your fleece to, or do you?
ReplyDeletePhaedra,
ReplyDeleteAt this point we have the fiber sorted by quality. The blanket is from the back and sides and is the best quality. The fiber from the neck and legs are seconds.
We will sell it, not sure to who yet. There are some very nice people a few miles from us who have been in the business for 10 years. They will help us with all of that.
