Wine and Water

I received this e-mail from a friend, author unknown. If you know me, you will get why it tickles me so much.

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine...and those who don't.
As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials,
Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria; found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming
1 kilo of poop.
However, we do NOT run that risk when
drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor), because alcohol has to go through a purification
process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.
Remember:
Water = Poop, Wine = Health.
Therefore, it is better to drink wine and talk stupid,
than to drink water and be full of shit.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:
I'm doing it as a public service.

Pregger Paca

The white paca is Caitlin, she is an excellent producer and mother. At 12 years old, she is our oldest. A female paca can produce until about 15, I think we might breed her one more time after this cria. That would put her at about 14, I think that she will deserve her retirement after that. She will become the babysitter for the crias at weaning time.

Her cria is due on 9/23.

These pics show that she definitely has a bun in the oven.

The top pic is Annie's Choice, our young one. She will turn one in November. We will be taking her to a show in October at the Viginia Horse Center.

Godspeed Sally Jo Keller, 8/6/2009

It was a priviledge and an honor to be a part your life. Words can not express how much you mean to me. My memories of you and how special you were shall never die.
The fireflies lit up extra special this evening, I know it was because you crossed to the other side and Jack was there waiting.
All of my love, Cat

These first few pics are parts of Ethiopia that we saw. Sorry about the black and white but it was the early 1960's
In this segment, the top two were just several families headed out to the bush on safari. The bottom two are of my dad with the Emporer Haile Selassie. At the time, Ethiopia was an ally with the USA. Dad was there to train the Ethiopian troops how to use the tanks that were sold to them. Unfortunately, the communists came in later and destroyed the country.

These pics were taken when we were out in the bush. The Landrover was an Army issue and was nothing like the pussy Rovers they have now. The pic with the snake is rather dreadful as the snake is a Black Mamba, that would be my brother standing next to it. That would be mom and I standing over a couple of warthogs. Mom actually shot one of them, me, I just thought I was a bad ass. The bottom pic is of a log that hung out over the Gibby River. We used to camp there alot. Dad and a pilot friend found this area when they did a recon mission. They had to hack it out of the jungle with machetes, it wasn't like going to a KOA camp ground. There were hippos and crocs in that river. You did not swim there.

Just some other pics.

Those were our quarters in Addis and our Landrover that were issued by the Army. A couple of shots in the bush and Santa comes to town.
I was so very young at the time. I have very few memories of living there. I sure wish I had more. I do know my parents loved living there.
We have many more great pics of wildlife, unfortunately, they are on the old 35mm slides. One day I need to try to get them transferred to something more up to date. He has one pic of a lioness in the long grass that gives me chills everytime I see it.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy.

Starting to scan some pics from one of the family albums. The above pics are from the 1960's. The top two are of me when I was a baby. Of course that is mom and dad holding Chuck and I. Then there is the one of Chuck holding me. Both were from June of 1961. I was 5 months old and Chuck was 13 months old. The formal pic is of mom and dad before they went to the Army Ball. Handsome couple they were. The pic to the right is right after we moved to Va Beach in 1967. We were on the Boardwalk. That was when Va Beach was a really cool place to live. The last pic is of Chuck, me, Sam and Sylvester in the house in Va Beach.
Just some more pics of life at that house. The lady with mom is my grandmother, she was the most special person ever. Then dad and I with Sam and then Chuck and I doing what we did every summer. Swim, Swim, Swim. That was a really great place that we lived. As you can see, the house had a deep water canal that led out to Broad Bay that then led out to the Chesapeake Bay. We were all about the water.

These pics were taken the summer before we were transferred to Missouri. Chuck and I with my wonderful Grandmother. Travelling in my dad's VW camper, beaching it and waterskiing. We had such a great time back then.
I will next work on scanning the Africa pics.
These pics scanned really well, but if you click on them, they are so much better. I guess ya'll probably know that though.
